Case Study: Visual Brand Design for SockWars NYC

Visual Branding / Logo Design

Client Overview SockWars NYC is a dynamic platform built around community, creativity, and competition. Through monthly sock design contests and a designer marketplace, SockWars fosters an inclusive online space where both casual fans and artists can thrive. With a crowdfunding model that rewards designers and a fair revenue share system, SockWars NYC is redefining how fashion and community can come together.

Project Goals

The primary objective was to create a bold, energetic visual identity that reflects the brand’s unique mix of competition, culture, and creativity. The client wanted to stand out in the e-commerce and fashion space with a brand that felt fresh, playful, and community-driven—all while maintaining a sense of polish and professionalism.

Design Process

Brand Discovery: We began with a deep dive into SockWars NYC’s mission, community values, and platform structure. This helped us determine key visual themes: competition, individuality, inclusivity, and artistic expression.

  1. Moodboarding & Direction: We explored palettes, typefaces, and visuals that felt fun yet stylish—a balance between urban edge and creative flair. Think bold fonts, expressive lines, and punchy color contrasts.

  2. Logo Concept Development: The logo concepts leaned into the idea of movement, community, and self-expression. We experimented with illustrated icons, bold typography, and subtle nods to socks and design tools.

  3. Refinement: The chosen concept was refined for flexibility and clarity across digital platforms, from the website and social media to product tags and promotional graphics.
